Measurable Value: The Four Questions That Decide What We Build

A feature is easy to justify in a meeting and hard to justify a year later. So before we build something, we ask what would change if it existed — in terms someone could actually measure.
Four questions decide it:
Does it remove work someone is doing by hand today?
Does it shorten a wait: an approval, a correction, a month-end close?
Does it reduce how often a record has to be fixed after the fact?
Would a team still use it in the third month, not just the first week?
The last one rules out more ideas than the other three together. Something that impresses in week one and goes unused by week twelve has cost us maintenance and cost you attention, and neither shows up in a demo.
We answer these from how the product is actually used, not from how it presents.
